Abstract (EN)

The primary objective of this study is to examine the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and psychological resilience levels among university students enrolled in Faculties of Sports Sciences. The study was designed using the relational screening model and employed a quantitative research method. The study population consists of undergraduate students studying at Faculties of Sports Sciences in public universities in Turkey. The sample of the study comprises 253 students who voluntarily participated in the research and were selected through convenience sampling. In the data collection process, three instruments were utilized: the "Personal Information Form," the "Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (BTS-12)," and the "Brief Resilience Scale (BRS)." Data were collected both through online survey platforms and face-to-face applications. The collected data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 25.0 statistical software. Initially, the normality of the data distribution was assessed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Shapiro-Wilk tests, along with skewness and kurtosis values. It was determined that the variables followed a normal distribution; thus, parametric tests were employed in the analyses. Descriptive statistics were used to determine the general tendencies of the variables, and Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to assess the direction and strength of relationships among the variables. Additionally, simple linear regression analysis was performed to evaluate the predictive role of intolerance of uncertainty on psychological resilience. Group differences based on demographic variables were analyzed using independent samples t-test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings of the study revealed that students' levels of intolerance of uncertainty and psychological resilience were generally at a moderate level. A significant and positive relationship was found between intolerance of uncertainty and psychological resilience. According to the results of the regression analysis, intolerance of uncertainty significantly explained 38% of the variance in psychological resilience. In conclusion, the study demonstrated that sports science students tend to develop psychological resilience in response to uncertain situations, and this relationship varies across different demographic characteristics.
