Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to analyze the sports news texts selected from the archives of a national newspaper using text linguistic criteria and then to make comparisons. Attention has been paid to the fact that the selected texts are from the same field and written by different authors. Thus, it will be seen how texts produced through similar processes are distinguished by the style of the text authors and how they differentiate the text. The first part of the study consists of theoretical preparation. In the theoretical preparation section, the importance of rhetoric and stylistics for text linguistics up to the point of text linguistics is mentioned, and then the history of text linguistics is given, explaining how it began to develop as a branch of linguistics and who contributed to this field. Particularly, German linguists have made great efforts in the emergence of text linguistics. Alain de Beaugrande and Wolfgang Ullrich Dressler have identified seven criteria of textuality, which form the basis for text linguistics and greatly facilitate the understanding of texts, thus answering many questions about the structure of the text. By explaining the criteria of textuality identified by Beaugrande and Dressler, what the structure of text linguistics consists of and the contributions of these structures to the text are also explained. In the second part, what news is and what types of news texts are explained. Among these, the study moves on to the third part by focusing on the news texts that are informative or explanatory. In the third part, which is the application section, the sports news texts are analyzed using text linguistic criteria and then the analyzed texts are compared. With the comparative general evaluation, the differentiating and similar features of the texts are listed.
