Administrati̇e evaluation of education in sports high schools

Özet The purpose of this study is to examine the special talent exams, educator qualifications, education programs, institutional collaborations, collaborations with sports federations, completion and measurement and evaluation system qualifications of higher education institutions providing sports education in sports high schools. The research universe consists of physical education teachers and administrators working in sports high schools in the Marmara region of Istanbul. In the research, phenomenology (phenomenology) from qualitative research designs is systematically carried out. Phenomenology is a method that aims to reveal the experiences they will have and evaluate their perceptions of a certain phenomenon (Tekindal and Uğuz Arsu, 2020). In our study, a semi-developed interview formula was used as the data collection method and was carried out according to the basis of volunteers. In the analysis of our data, 48 participant responses collected with open-ended questions on the adequacy of the administrative evaluation of education in sports high schools were evaluated using the content analysis method. The data were analyzed by dividing them into categories and codes, and frequency-percentage distribution was calculated. As a result, it reveals that sports high schools have significant deficiencies in terms of their teaching staff, physical infrastructure, equipment, collaborations, and measurement-evaluation processes; however, it also shows that they have strengths in terms of theoretical education quality, teacher motivation, and student-centered practices. In particular, developing branch-specific examination systems, increasing the number of expert trainers in individual branches, eliminating facility and equipment deficiencies, and structuring institutional collaborations in a sustainable manner will increase the functionality of sports high schools and their capacity to train athletes. In addition, adapting the educational environments of sports high schools to contemporary sports education approaches and establishing data-based management processes focused on sports science will contribute to students' success at national and international levels.
