Investigation of sports high school students' sportsmanship orientation (example of Eastern Anatolia region)

Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the sportsmanship orientations of the students studying in the Eastern Anatolian Region Sports High Schools in terms of various variables. Material and Method: Scanning model was used in the research. The universe of the research consists of 3169 students studying in Eastern Anatolia Region Sports High Schools in the 2019-2020 academic year. The sample of the study, on the other hand, consists of 2479 randomly selected students studying in the Eastern Anatolian Region Sports High Schools. In addition to the personal information form prepared by the researcher to determine some demographic characteristics of the participants, "Sportsmanship Orientation Scale" developed by Balçıkanlı was used. Results: According to the findings of the study, in the sub-dimensions of sportsmanship orientation, in all sub-dimensions according to gender and mother education status variables, in compliance with social norms according to age, class, family income, and sports branch variables, and in sub-dimensions of commitment to responsibilities in sports, compliance with social norms according to undergraduate and maternal occupation variables In the sub-dimension of the father's profession sub-dimension, the respect for the rules and management sub-dimension, and in the education of the father, the sub-dimensions of commitment to responsibilities in sports and respect for competitors (p<0.05); in all sub-dimensions according to the mother's occupation variable, in the sub-dimensions of adaptation to social norms and respect for opponents according to the variables of family income, sports branches, in the sub-dimensions of respect for the opponent according to age and class variables, in the sub-dimensions of commitment to responsibilities in sports and respect for the opponent according to the variable of undergraduate and father's occupation, It does not express significance in the sub-dimensions of compliance with social norms and respect for rules and management according to the father education variable (p> 0.05). Conclusion: As a result of the study, it was concluded that the variables of gender, age, class, family income, sports branch and father's occupation were effective on the sub-dimensions of sportsmanship orientation.
