Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between the basic personality traits of sports high school students and their psychological resilience. Relational scanning model was used in the research. The sample of this study was determined by the convenience sampling method. The study consists of a total of 669 students, 204 of whom are female students and 465 of whom are male students, studying in sports high schools in the provinces of Mardin, Kars, Kırıkkale, İzmir, Bolu, Antalya and Amasya in the 2019-2020 academic year. "Personal Information Form", "Psychological Resilience Levels Scale" and "Basic Personality Trait Scale" were used as data collection tools. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage distribution, arithmetic mean, mode, median are used in the analysis of data collected in accordance with the purpose of the study; Pearson Correlation test to examine the relationship between the two scales; T-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Multiple Regression Analysis were used. In the findings of the study, a significant difference was found between the gender variable and the basic personality traits, and a significant difference was found between the variables of age, family monthly income, family status, psychological resilience and basic personality traits. In addition, a positive relationship was found between psychological resilience levels and basic personality traits, and a regression model was established in which basic personality traits were taken as independent variables and psychological resilience levels as dependent variables. The regression model established according to the model test results was found to be significant. While the emotional imbalance and negative value sub-dimensions of the basic personality traits scale negatively affected the psychological resilience level, it was concluded that the responsibility, kindness and openness to experience sub-dimensions positively affected the psychological resilience level.
