Sport centers provide services to their users like sport activities, personal care, entertainment to make their lives healthier and more pleasant. These centers include, gymnasiums, tennis and squash courts, swimming pools, basketball and football fields, dance, pilates, yoga and studios, sauna, steam rooms, massage and beauty sections. Sport centers previously were only seen as a luxury, but nowadays sport centers are adopted a way of life and quality of life for many people. With a growing number of fitness centers are usually working as a membership system and users can be member monthly or yearly. It is possible to get expert trainers' support and guide for various actions which differ from age, physical condition and sex. Users can purify from stress of the day physically and mentally by doing different actions. Hillside, Mac, Essporto, Coliseum are the most known sport centers in Istanbul. Some activities are carried out in outdoor areas and some of them are in indoor sport centers. The given spaces' illuminance schemes should ensure rightly, harmonize with the interior design and should be in the appropriate conditions in terms of energy saving. This study consists of six chapters. In the first chapter, the purpose and the method of the work had been specified. In the second chapter the basic principles of the study has been explained. In the third chapter there have been given information on spaces in the sport centers. In the fourth chapter information on the basic parameters of lighting (the quality and quantity of lighting) and, lighting systems, devices and lighting control systems have been analysed. In the fifth chapter the general principles of sport centers' illumination layout were examined according to the information stated in previous parts. In the sixth chapter, the existing illumination layout of a squash court and multipurpose hall were examined, analysed and compared by using two different lighting sources.
