An investigation of the components that affect team performance in the sports organizations project teams:The case of Turkish Football Federation

The aim of this study was the provide an in-depth analysis of the contribution of the components of team performance (environmental conditions, composition, competence and change) on the performance of the team and determining their levels.The research is descriptive and it utilizes mix medhods of sampling. Phenomenologic design and typical case sampling method were used in the qualitative part of the study. For data collection, interview forms were prepared by employing semi-structured interview technique. Data was collected by conducting face to face interviews. The obtained data was deciphered and coded by three experts in the field. Cross-section approach was used in the quantitative part of the study and surveys were conducted to participants in order to identify the performance levels of project teams in Turkish Football Federation.The results of the study showed that although the project teams of Turkish Football Federation in the framework of this study have not undergone a deliberate team structuring process, performance components already exist in these teams. This case can be accepted as an indicator of high level performance of project teams in Turkish Football Federation. The existence of these themes contributed to the formation of sub-themes obtained in components of environmental conditions, composition, competence and change and it was seen that team performance was positively supported by the existence of these sub-themes. The fact that arithmetic means regarding the components in general were high in survey results also supports this finding.Key Words: Team, Team Work, Project Team, Project Team Performance, Turkish Football Federation
