An investigation of services for sports policies: The sample of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality

In the study, it is aimed to propose solutions by investigating the reasons for the sports policies that are thought to be incomplete by examining the studies carried out in the field of sports by the municipalities that have economic and political power that can create great effects in the local area. It is thought that this study will guide the municipality to determine whether the sports policies of the local administrations in general and the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality in particular are at the desired level and to improve the sports policies that are thought to be inadequate. Aydın Metropolitan Municipality did not have a separate unit related to sports in the municipality administration before it became a metropolitan municipality. Activities in the field of sports were carried out in a dispersed manner under the roof of different units, especially the Social Affairs Directorate. After Aydın Municipality gained the metropolitan status (2015), a new unit was established under the name of "Youth and Sports Services Department", and activities and policies in the field of sports were continued under this unit. As a result of the examination of the Strategic Plans, it is seen that the municipality does not have a specific sports policy, and the budget of the Youth and Sports Services Department was created in 2017.
