Abstract (EN)

Today, sport is no longer just a healthy living, weight loss, physical development and leisure activity for individuals, but has become an economically strong and developing sector for all the world and countries. In parallel with this change and development, sport has become an important source of income. The aim of this study is, using financial data for the years 2015, 2016 and 2017, to measure and compare the economic performances of eight sport halls selected randomly throughout Turkey. In this context, eight financial ratios were used to compare the economic performance of the sport halls. Financial ratios used in the study; current ratio, liquidity (acid-test) ratio, cash ratio, financial leverage ratio, equity ratio, borrowing ratio, equity profitability ratio and net profitability ratio. These ratios are calculated from the financial statements of the sports halls. First, the status of the sport halls in terms of the selected financial ratios were examined individually. Subsequently, the financial ratios obtained from the financial statements were converted to a single performance score with the help of TOPSIS method. According to these scores, the sports halls were subjected to economic performance ranking. Although there are various methods of performance measurement, TOPSIS, which is one of the Multi Criteria Decision Making methods, is used in this study. In this method, alternatives are usually ranked according to their current performance. However, in this study, an evaluation was made for three different years in order to see the performance changes that may occur over time. According to the results of the evaluation, it has been concluded that the economic performance of some sport halls change positively over time while the others cannot maintain their current status. During the period examined, none of the sport halls were able to maintain their economic performance consistently. In general, sport halls showed a positive or negative change over time in terms of economic performance.
