Examination of sports awareness and sports commitment ofparents of sportive children

The aim of this research is to examine the sports awareness and sports commitment of parents of children who do sports. The population of our research consists of the parents of children who do sports residing in Ankara province. The sample group of the study consisted of 436 people from the parents of children who actively participate in the volleyball branch, selected by convenience sampling method from the relevant universe. The "Sports Awareness Scale" developed by Uyar and Sunay (2019) and the "Sports Commitment Scale" developed by Sırgancı, Ilgar and Cihan (2019) were used as data collection tools in the study. The margin of error in the study was taken as 0.05. As a result, while there were significant differences in the general and sub-dimensions of the sports awareness scale according to the variables of gender, education level, marital status, relationship with sports and income level, no significant difference was found according to the age variable. In the sport commitment scale, it was concluded that there was no significant difference in the overall scale and its sub-dimensions according to gender, age, marital status and income level variables. It was observed that there were significant differences in the general and all sub-dimensions of the scale according to the variable of relationship with sports. It was determined that there was a moderate positive significant relationship between the sports awareness scale and the sports commitment scale.
