Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effects of internet and social media usage on the levels of chronic anxiety in individuals who engage in sports and those who do not have been examined. Furthermore, a detailed investigation has been conducted on how this interaction correlates with the personality traits of individuals. This study involved a total of 310 participants, of which 87 were female and 223 were male subjects. The results of the study indicate that the impact of social media and internet usage on the anxiety levels of those who engage in sports is less significant compared to those who do not. Additionally, specific personality traits such as extroversion and neuroticism have shown a noticeable interaction with social media usage in relation to anxiety levels. In particular, the tendency of extroverted individuals to engage in sports demonstrates a capacity to balance out the negative effects of social media on anxiety. This research emphasizes that sports could potentially be a tool to mitigate the impacts of internet and social media on an individual's mental well-being. Moreover, it has been concluded that personality traits play a significant role in this interaction, suggesting that individual differences should be taken into consideration when developing anxiety management strategies. These findings offer innovative approaches to preserving psychological well-being in our rapidly advancing technological era.
