Abstract (EN)

The objective of this study is to analyze the satisfaction of the basic psychological needs of the students who take exercises and don't take in accordance with various variances. While conducting the research, the universal screening model and relational screening model which are based on quantitative data were employed. The sampling of the research consists of 767 voluntary students who study in the provinces of Konya and Ağrı. Of the 767 participants who constitute the research group, 395 of them are males while 372 of them are females. In the study, "The Scale of Basic Psychological Needs" developed by Deci and Ryan (2000) and adapted into Turkish by Kesici, Bozgeyikli et al., (2003). It has 21 expressions, three sub-dimensions and five point likert scale. The sampling group filled "the Form of Personal Info" in order to obtain the data related to the variants of the research. In general, it was concluded that the basic psychological needs of the students who take exercises were satisfied more than those who don't take exercises. A significant difference was obtained between the students of primary and secondary schools in the provinces of Konya and Ağrı. It was found that the basic psychological needs of the students in Konya were satisfied at the moderate and high levels while the students of Ağrı had lower levels of satisfaction.
