Abstract (EN)
Aim: To show the levels of Endocan and ICAM in Stable Asmathic patients and to show their relationship with Asthma Control. Material and methods: The study is followed at Adnan Menderes University Hospital Chest Diseases Policlinic between May 2018 and November 2018 and accepts to participate in the study and meets the inclusion criteria (over 18 years old, diagnosed with asthma, known cardiovascular disease, neurological disease, diabetes mellitus disease, kidney disease, Patients with liver disease, malignancy, etc. without additional disease) stable asthma cases and control group were taken. Demographic data such as age, gender, educational background, habitat, family history, BMI and smoking history and pulmonary function test results were recorded. Asthma patients were classified as mild, moderate and severe according to the GINA 2019 classification. Asthma control test was performed on the asthma group. Endocan, ICAM1, ECM, IL8, periostin and eosinophil levels of the patients were examined biochemically Results: 50 asthma and 39 control group cases were examined. There was no socio-demographic difference between the groups. FEV1 (L,% pred) and FEV1 / FVC valueswere significantly lower in the asthma group. FVC (L) and FEV1 (L) values were significantly lower in obese asthmatic patients compared to non-obese asthmatic patients. Endocan, ICAM 1, ECM, IL8, periostin and eosinophil values were significantly higher in the asthma group compared to the control group, but were similar between the groups in the asthma weight classification and between the controlled and uncontrolled groups. There was a positive correlation between endothelial dysfunction markers and ICAM-1. There was no correlation between other markers. Conclusion: In this study, it was shown that endocan and ICAM1 may be indicative of endothelial dysfunction in asthma patients regardless of the severity of the disease and whether it is under control. The positive correlation between ICAM-1 level and ECP suggests that endothelial dysfunction may be higher in patients with eosinophilic asthma. Further studies are needed in which endothelial dysfunction is evaluated according to asthma phenotypes. Keywords: Asthma, Endothelial Dysfunction, Endocan, ICAM
