Abstract (EN)
Hysterectomy is the most frequently performed gynecological surgery in the world. Urinary system injuries are one of the serious complications of gynecological surgery due to the close proximity of the uterus to the urinary system. In our study, we aimed to put a cost-effective and portable cystoscope system into routine intraoperative practice by comparing the optical performance and diagnostic efficiency of the portable cystoscope we created with the standard cystoscope. The study was designed prospectively. Ten women over the age of 18 who underwent elective hysterectomy were included in the study. The participants who underwent vaginal, abdominal or laparoscopic hysterectomy operation and suspected urinary system injury underwent cystoscopy consecutively in the same session by the same practitioner with the cystoscopy system in routine use and the portable cystoscopy system we created. The images were evaluated by 5 faculty members, 4 research assistants working in TOGU Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinic, 5 faculty members and 3 research assistants working in TOGU Urology clinic. Each image was evaluated on five image parameters (image resolution, brightness, color, sharpness, overall image quality) using a 5-point Likert scale (1 = very poor, 5 = very good). Images were also evaluated for acceptability for diagnostic use using a yes/no 2-point Likert scale. As a result of the evaluation, it was determined that there was no significant difference between the portable cystoscopy system we created and the standard cystoscopy system in terms of resolution, brightness, color, sharpness, general image quality and diagnostic efficiency. It was seen that the portable system we created was similar to the standard system in terms of optical performance and diagnostic adequacy.
