Investigation of the effect duration of static and dynamic stretching exercises on vertical jump and speed performance

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect duration of static and dynamic stretching exercises on vertical jump and sprint performance. For this purpose, 11 healthy basketball players with a mean age of 15.64 ± 0.505 years, a mean height of 170.20 ± 7.80 cm, a body weight of 57.18 ± 6.55 kg, and a sports age of 3.91 ± 0.831 years participated voluntarily in the study. According to the counterbalanced design, the participants participated in 3 different measurements as static stretching (SS), dynamic stretching (DS) and control group (CG). Measurements were made after static and dynamic stretching applications at intervals of 24 hours, 3 days a week for 3 weeks. 30 m sprint and DS test data was taken immediately after application, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th and at the 15th minute. In order to determine the vertical jump performance (VJ), the Counter Movement Jump test procedure was used for measure flight time. The peak anaerobic power (PAP) was calculated by using formula with flight time. According to the results of two-way repeated measures of anova, for 30m Speed data, Application effect (F(1,149-11,494)= 63,396; P= 0.000), Time effect (F(2,73-27,304)= 377,720; P= 0,000), Application x time effect (F(3,625-36,254)= 286.402; P= 0.000) was a statistically significant. Similarly, at Peak Anaerobic Power values, the Application effect (F(1.067-10.672) = 15.53; P= 0.002), time effect (F(2.15-21.56)= 28.458; P= 0.000) and Application x Time effect (F(2.13-21.34)= 26.934; P= 0.000) was statistically significant
