Comparative analysis of pursestring method versus conventional methods for stoma closure

Stomas are an important problem that disrupts the physiological and psychological health of the individual. It is known to be associated with septic complications, especially in high-risk anastomosis. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce the number of complications secondary to ostomy cuts, namely wound infection, anastomotic leaks and intestinal obstruction. In this direction, surgical techniques after surgical treatment in the postoperative period in patients with stoma opened and closed for various reasons; We aimed to evaluate the relationship between wound healing and complications. In the research; We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 44 (forty-four) patients whose stoma was closed. A total of 21 patients who underwent the Bladder Mouth (CA) method in Antalya, Akdeniz University Hospital between August 2015 and November 2019 were compared with 23 patients who were applied the Conventional method (HF) between October 2015 and September 2019. As a result; The pouch method was determined to show no infection and fewer complications after ostomy wound closure (shorter recovery time and improved patient satisfaction).
