The effect of strategic flexibility on organizational effectiveness: A study in Palestine state hospitals in Gaza

This study aims to investigate the effect of strategic flexibility on organizational effectiveness. The research was conducted with 242 employees from 11 state hospitals in Palestine. The scale developed by Li and Mackinnon (2008) was used to measure strategic flexibility, while organizational effectiveness was assessed using the scale developed by Booker (2007). Data analysis was performed using the SPSS software, employing descriptive statistical methods, correlation analysis, regression analysis, independent samples t-test, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The findings reveal that strategic flexibility significantly affects organizational effectiveness in state hospitals in Gaza. Specifically, informational and coordination flexibility was found to have a statistically significant and positive impact on organizational effectiveness. Strategic flexibility was shown to explain 77.2% of organizational effectiveness. Informational and coordination flexibility strongly and meaningfully predicted management frameworks, human resources, program delivery, and stakeholder relationships. In contrast, the effects of resource and capacity flexibility on organizational effectiveness were statistically insignificant. This study highlights the importance of strategic flexibility in enhancing the overall effectiveness of organizations under the challenging and unstable conditions of Gaza. It emphasizes how improving the speed and efficiency of information flow and enhancing coordination among employees can amplify the positive impact of strategic flexibility on organizational performance. The study underlines the importance of prioritizing informational and coordination flexibility dimensions for effective performance. Additionally, it concludes that more flexible and adaptable strategies should be developed to improve organizational effectiveness by addressing state hospitals' specific challenges in Gaza.
