The effect of strategic fleet management on the performance: A research in the third party logistics (3PL) companies in Ankara

The rapid change has been gone through in the world which is also felt intimately in our country in recent years has revealed the need of a strategic vision for a competitive economic structural formation. Therefore; from education to health, from social area to business world strategic management models are formed and evaluations are carried out. Strategic management which reflects its associational effect in every sphere of life has a special importance at logistics sector. In business places that renders logistics service and carry out logistics activities some researches and surveys are fulfilled on management aspects which raise the performance. In our country national and internatioanal road transport is a prominent logistics area. Crucial advantages can be attained with the strategic management of the fleet structures which are essential for logistics sector. The aim of this study is to designate the level of relationship between the aspects of strategic fleet management process and the business performances with technologic, human resource and data analysis of strategic management factors belonging to the fleet. This study consists of three parts. In the first chapter, the concepts regarding logistics and its management were mentioned. In the second chapter, strategic fleet management was studied theoretically. The third chapter constitues the research part. In this study, questionnaire study is practiced as a quantitive data gathering method. The data gathered with questionnaire was construed with structural equation modeling in accordance with the aim of this research. This study was held by conducting questionnaires to the businesses that are servicing as internatioanl road ware transport in Ankara. According to the findings of this research, strategic fleet management and its factors have influences with various dimensions on business performances.
