Abstract (EN)

Diabetes mellitus is a disease which caused by the deficiency of insulin hormone secretion or it's effect. Insulin, the hormone secretion and / or insulin deficiency as a result of, leading to disturbances carbohydrates, lipid and protein metabolism. In this study we investigated the effects of Pl.major in rats with experimentally induced diabet. Biochemical effects of diabetes on the majors, are intended to demonstrate the oxidative status and apoptotic markers. 30 male rats were used in this study as animal material. Rats divided into five groups as control, Pl.major, diabetic, insülin and diabetic+ Pl.major. All the animals fed with standard food and water during the four week trial. To induce experimental diabetes; a single dose (60 mg/kg) of STZ were applied i.p. to rats in diabetes, diabetes+Pl major and diabetes+insülin groups. After the formation of diabetes in diabetes + Pl major and Pl major groups, 0,3 mg/ml of Pl major were added the rat's drinking water for three weeks. In the study however serum glucose, HbA1c, triglycerides, total cholesterol, TBARS, LDL, kaspaz-3 ve kaspaz-8 levels were found significantly lower in diabetic+ Pl major, the levels of serum insulin,TAC and HDL levels were found higher than the diabetic group. In this study, the application of Pl major in diabetic rats showed that Pl major acting as insülin analog lowering blood glucose and decreasing HbA1c levels and changing lipid profile. With the light of the data obtained from the study, it is considered that Pl major can be used in the treatment of insulin resistance and diabetes in the following years.
