Abstract (EN)
In this study, the seismic isolator system, which is still developing in terms of theory and practice in Turkey and the world. The building, which is the subject of the thesis, is a 5-story building with 4 regular floors + 1 basement; It assumed that there was no basement. This building was not an existing building but will be considered as a residential building with a total of 5 floors and an isolator with a friction pendulum bearing, which decided to study within the scope of the thesis. This structure used in this study shows all the steps required for the structural analysis and seismic isolator design to be carried out under vertical and horizontal earthquake loads by using the General Purposed Structure Analysis Programs. Civil engineers (or civil engineering students) who want to design seismic isolators with the competence to gained with the help of this thesis will be able to complete their original designs from start to finish. General Purposed Structure Analysis Programs widely used and licensed in Turkey, will be utilised to compare the analysis results and to carry out all necessary controls, and the results will be confirmed. The weight of the building has been founded by General purposed structure analysis programs, and the design calculations of the isolators have been made manually and explained in the thesis. General information about all isolator types is given. The purpose of using the isolators described in the thesis is to separate the building from the ground as much as possible and to dampen the effects of the forces that the earthquake loads will create on the structure. All the theoretical information and numerical applications given in this study have been designed as a new building in accordance with TBEC-2018 (Turkish Seismic Code) and according to the principle of special rules for the design of isolated building carrier systems under the earthquake effect specified in TBEC-2018 Chapter 14. Load combinations used in the design were considered in accordance with TBEC-2018 Section 14.10. In addition, isolators were designed according to the principles of TBEC-2018 Section 14.13 Curved Surface Friction Isolation Units. The architectural design and structural analysis of the structure in question were carried out to provide an exemplary structure; that building did not build physically where it is located.
