Abstract (EN)
Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of HILT on early and late pain, quality of life, shoulder function and isokinetic evaluation of placebo in the treatment of subacromial impingement syndrome, which is very common in musculoskeletal pain and affects patient daily life with pain and limitation of movement. Materials and Methods: The study included 63 patients with a diagnosis of subacromial impingement syndrome aged 30-75 years. A total of 32 patients in highintensity laser therapy+ exercise group (HG) and 31 patients in sham-laser+ exercise group (control group-KG) concluded the study. Participants were sequence allocated to an intervention group (25 minutes high-intensity laser therapy + 30 minutes exercise therapy) and control group (25 minutes sham-laser + 30 minutes exercise therapy) and received 15 sessions (five days a week during three weeks). Demographic characteristics of the patients were recorded. The patients were assested before the treatment (baseline: T0), after the treatment (T1,3th week) and at the end of the study (3 months after the treatment: T3); using the shoulder passive and active range of motion, Visuel Analogue Scale (VAS), Constant Murley Score, Short-Form 36 (SF36), concentric shoulder internal and external rotation peak torque values at 120,180 and 210 degrees/second with isokinetic dynamometer. Results: Post-treatment (T1) and 3-month follow-up visits (T3) results showed significant improvement in all parameters in both groups. In comparing the values of the groups immediately after treatment and the third month after treatment; active flexion, internal rotation and external rotation of the shoulder; VAS at rest, VAS movement and VAS night scores; Constant-Murley daily living activity, range of motion, strength and total scores; in all sub-parameters of SF-36 (physical function, physical role limitation, emotional role limitation, vitality, mental health, social function, pain and general health); the internal rotation 120, 180,210 and external rotation 120,180 degree / second peak torque values of the isokinetic dynamometer were significantly higher in the HILT group.(9) Conclusion: HILT treatment in patients with subacromial impingement syndrome, in the short and long term, it is effective in decreasing the pain, increasing the range of motion, functionality, quality of life and muscle strength evaluated with isokinetic.
