The effect of subclinic hypothroidism on the fetus and the progress of pregnancy

Abstract (EN)
It's known that hypothyroidism has negative effects on pregnancy and fetus. However, it remains unclear whether subclinical hypothyroidism has negative effects on pregnancy and fetus or not. We, in our clinic, research whether subclinical hypothyroidism has negative effects on pregnancy and fetus or not in a retrospective study. In this study, we include the pregnant women who had been attended in Mediterranean University Gynecology and Obstetric's Clinic and delivered at there between january 2002 and jun 2006. We analyze the data of the pregnants who delivered after 20th gestational week. We obtained pregnants' name, surname and chart number from birth records and from the medipatient program we obtained pregnants' thyroid function tests (TSH, fT4, fT3). We classified the pregnants as two group of who have normal thyroid function tests (normal TSH, fT4, fT3 values) andwho have subclinical hypothyroidism (higher TSH, normal fT4, fT3). After analyzing the laboratory records we defined 789 pregnants with normal thyroid function tests and 45 pregnants with subclinical hypothyroidism. We decided that it is satisfactory of including 70-80 pregnants in control group. We put in order the chart numbers of the pregnants' who have normal thyroid function tests from down to up to randomize the control group. Then we chose one of every ten pregnants to determine the control group. We analyzed pregnancy follow-up and birth records from patients charts. Aftermore, we include 33 pregnants from patient group and 52 pregnants from control group into the study. We search the pregnants as; age, gravity, parity, abortion, termination, vaginal delivery, delivery with cesarian, gestational hypertention, preeclampsia, eclampsia, preterm action, delivery date, intrauterine death, intrauterine growth retardation and ablatio placentae. We search the neonates as birth week, birth weight, 5th minutes apgar score, neonatal death, neonatal intensive care after birth, major malformation, respiratory distress syndrome, necrotizing enterocolitica, intraventricle bleeding. As outcame of the study we observed that there is no differences on pregnancy complication and neonatal complication between the euthyroid pregnant women and subclinical hypothyroid pregnant women.
