Abstract (EN)
Different nanomaterials and modified natural materials were obtained to remove arsenic (As-V) ions from drinking water within the scope of the doctoral thesis. Iron oxide (DO), crown ether doped iron oxide (DO-TE) and metal organic framework (MOF) were synthesized. Different size zeolite samples were modified. Dust zeolite (ZEO), FeCl3 processed dust zeolite (ZEO-Fe), gravel zeolite (TZEO), iron oxide coated gravel zeolite (TZEO-DO) materials were used in doctoral thesis. XRF, XRD, FT-IR, TGA, SEM, TEM, PPMS and BET characterization analysis were conducted to obtain necessary information on materials. ICP-MS analysis was carried out to detect as (V) levels in samples. Design Expert was used to model and optimize removal efficiencies. Also, kinetics and isotherms were studied for ZEO-Fe and MOF materials. DO-TE nano material was improved from DO; hence they were modelled together. Different pH, concentration, and time were studied, and removal efficiencies were compared. DO As (V) removal efficiency was between 78% and 93%. DO-TE removal efficiency was between 74% and 94%. In addition, ZEO-Fe which is enhanced ZEO, and MOF materials were modelled together. ZEO As (V) removal efficiency was between 30% and 60% while ZEO-Fe removal efficiency was between 80% and 92%. MOF removal efficiency was between 58% and 87%. ZEO, ZEO-Fe and MOF had four different optimum range. Kinetics and isotherms obtained for MOF and ZEO-Fe were suited for Pseudo II and Freundlich for both materials, respectively. In column studies, TZEO and TZEO-DO materials were used. Download configuration is preferred for column in this thesis. Ideal column parameters were obtained by testing different loading rates and hydraulic values. Input As (V) concentration is 100 ppb and pH is 7. TZEO-DO modified natural material was found to be more efficient in column studies and the ideal loading rate was found to be 0,1 L/s.m2 and corresponding contact time is 25,3 minutes. Also, corresponding breakthrough curve is found to be 24 hours.
