An analysis of Süheyl u Nevbahar matching orientation metaphors and metonymy

It's obvious that metaphors, which people conceptualized with their experiences in their minds can be defined as "one thing is a representation of another thing", adds a richness of meaning to expressions if they are understood by the recipient. In this study, Suheyl u Nevbahar, which is the first masnavi on human love of the 14th century Old Anatolian Turkish period, where space changes, power elements and symbolic expressions are abundant, has been examined in metaphors and metonymy using the method of Lakoff and Johnson. In the first section of study has given information about Hoca Mesud the author of the book. After given a detailed information of mentioned work, it mentioned Hoca Mesud's next work A Translation of Ferhengnâme-i Sa'dî. In the second section of study has given theoretical information of metaphor concept and later types of metaphors has exampled and explained detailed due to Lakoff and Johnson's classification. In the last section of study, orientational metaphors and metonymies determined in Suheyl u Nevbahar has categorized in itself. After the categorization, the datas that created the titles has explained and criticized in the last part of each title. Through criticization numerical data has obtained and with this data, graphics has been created. Graphs were created with these numerical data, and the study was completed with the conclusion part by providing a more concrete view of the obtained numerical data.
