Özet (EN)
This study was carried out to determine the frequency of hearing loss in the elderly group over 65 years old in Süleler Village of Ankara. The short-term aim of the study is to determine the frequency of hearing loss according to the causes of people over 65 years of age.The longterm aim is to inform the relevant institutions about people with hearing loss and to provide early diagnosis and rehabilitation support. The study was carried out between 4 December 2021 and 27 February 2022. General information of the participants was collected through the sociodemographic form. In order to detect hearing loss in the participants, tuning fork and Weber and Rinne tests were used, and pure tone scanning audiometry was used for pure tone averages.A total of 50 people, 28 women and 22 men, participated in the study. The lowest age value of the participants was 65, the highest age was 88, and the mean age was 73.88±6,65. There is no statistically significant difference between right ear pure tone averages and left ear pure tone averages of men and women. When the right ear hearing loss classification of the participants is examined, 13 people with normal hearing (26%), 17 with very mild hearing loss (34%), 11 with mild hearing loss (22%), 5 with moderate hearing loss (10%), and 4 with moderate hearing loss. When the hearing loss classification of the participants for the left ear was examined, 17 people (34%) with normal hearing, 18 people with very mild hearing loss (36%), 7 people with mild hearing loss (14%), 8 people with moderate hearing loss (16%) was found. When the pure tone averages are analyzed according to age groups, there is a statistically significant difference in the right ear and left ear (right ear; F(2.47)= 5.873; p<0.05, left ear: F(2.47)= 6.841; p <0.05). According to the Tukey-B (Post Hoc) multiple comparison result applied to find out which category the difference originated from, the pure tone average of the elderly participants was higher than the pure tone averages of the young, old and middle-aged participants for both ears.
