Abstract (EN)
Testaments are texts that are closely related to each member of the society from an ordinary citizen to a state administrator in that they contain information about warnings, advices and orders not only about the individual's wishes but on matters concerning the society. While an ordinary person have left personal wills, the executives who lead the society have left some wills and warnings for both the period in which they live and the periods that follow. When the Turkish political history is examined, it is observed that the sultans having an crucial role in their time of reign wrote testaments for different purposes and these testaments have a rich content. The aim of this research is to determine the educational values in the testaments of the sultans who led the Turkish communities and to reveal the importance of the testaments of the sultans in terms of values education. For this goal, beginning with Orkhon inscriptions which are one of the first written documents of Turkish history pointing a political testament in terms of content, style and also typed with the language style of Bilge Kagan; the testaments of Kılıç Aslan the second, Timur Khan, Osman Ghazi, Sultan Murat the first, Sultan Murat the second and Suleiman the Magnificent were respectively examined in terms of their educational values. In this study using qualitative research model, the testaments determined within the scope of document analysis technique have been surveyed by means of content analysis. Our study consists of six chapters: "Introduction", "Theoretical Knowledge and Related Research", "Method", "Findings and Interpretation", "Conclusions and Recommendations" and "Original Texts of Testaments ". With this research, the testaments of the Sultan were surveyed for the first time in terms of educational values as a whole and the contributions of the educational values inferred in the testaments to the understanding of modern educational approaches are gone at. As a conclusion of the research, it was observed that the testaments of the Sultans are very rich in terms of values, the values determined in the testaments have a great extent correlation with the origin values of the Turkish Lesson Curriculum (2018) and the values in the testaments are still mostly equivalent today.
