Abstract (EN)

High Oxidation State of Organomolybdenum Compounds in Aqueous Medium?Bahar ÇağatayThis thesis covers ?high oxidation state organometallic chemistry? in aquoeus medium,in which reduction reactions of Cp*2Mo2O5 with different reducing agents (H3PO2, NaBH4,-2S2O3 , Zn) have been investigated. The structural characterizations of reduction products have1 31been achieved by elemental analyses, H NMR, P NMR, IR, EPR, Mass spectrometry and X-Ray diffraction. According to these data the probable structures have been assigned to thesereduction products.+The trinuclear cation [Cp*3Mo3O7] obtained by the reaction of Cp*2Mo2O5 with H3PO2(1:2).The reactions of Cp*2Mo2O5 with H3PO2 (1:5) resulted in complex mixtures of reductionproducts, which include monomer, dimer and trimer Cp*Mo species. The previously reported compound Cp*2Mo2O4 was synthesized by a different pathway, using NaBH4 as reducing agent. The reaction of Cp*2Mo2O5 with Zn in MeOH-H2O solution that is acidified with2+CF3COOH leads to the formation of [Cp*3Mo3(µ-O)2(µ-OH)4] ion as a triflouro acetate salt. Thestructure of this compound has been confirmed by X-Ray analysis.Key Words : Molybdenum, Aqueous Organometallic Chemistry, Metal-Metal Bonds, OxoLigands, Hydroxo Ligands
