ABSTRACT PhD THESIS DETERMINATION OF SOME BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE SUNN PEST [(Eurygaster integriceps PUT.) (HETEROPTERA: SCUTELLERIDAE)] EGG PARASITOH) (Trissolcus semistriatus NEES HYMENOPTERA: SCELIONIDAE), RELEASE AT DIFFERENT DENSITIES AND EVALUATION OF EFFECTIVENESS Şener TARLA DEPARTMENT OF PLANT PROTECTION INSTITUTE OF NATURAL AND APPLIED SCIENCES UNIVERSITY OF ÇUKUROVA Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Serpil KORNOŞOR Year:: 2002, Pages: 123 Jury : Prof. Dr. Serpil KORNOŞOR Prof. Dr. Nedim UYGUN Prof. Dr. Avni U?UR Prof. Dr. Tacettin YA?BASANLAR Prof. Dr. M. Rifat ULUSOY The effects of five constant temperatures (18, 22, 26, 30, and 34 °C at a L:D 16:8 photoperiod and 65+5 % RH.) on the male and female longevity, the length of oviposition and postoviposition period, blackening and development duration of the eggs, fecundity, emergence rate, male and female progeny, and sex ratio of Trissolcus semistriatus Nees (Hymenoptera: Scelionidae) were determined on the Sunn Pest (Eurygaster integriceps Putt.) eggs. The effects of fecundity and sex ratio were investigated with female which were mated different numbers of male. Some biological properties of the parasitoid obtaining on different pentatomids (Eurydema ornatum L., Dolycoris baccarum L. and Holcostethus vernalh Wolff) eggs were determined. Parasitoid species and parasiüzation rates on the Sunn Pest eggs in released and unreleased wheat fields were compared by releasing of T. semistriatus at four different (650, 1300, 1950, 2600/decare) population densities. In addition to this, the rates of escaping notice of green, hatched and black parasitized eggs of Sunn Pest were calculated in the usual field egg survey and on the cut wheat plants in the laboratory. Depending on the increasing temperature, the longevity of female, length of oviposition period, blackening time of the eggs, and development time were decreased. Depending on the different temperature, some other biological properties which recorded on the experiment were different to each other. The lower developmental threshold and the thermal requirement for T. semistriatus were calculated as 1 1.79 °C, 138.8 DD via linear regression, respectively. The increasing of parasitoids was determined 8-16 % on the first generation of T. semistriatus by releasing of at 1950 density in the one decare wheat field. The parasitized black egg masses are more apparent than unparasitized egg masses on the green fresh wheat part. So, It was put out that this caused over-estimating of egg parasitism in the usual field egg survey. Key Words: Eurygaster integriceps, Trissolcus semistriatus, temperature, parasitoid n
