The concept of adhan in sunnah: Specific to Kutub al-Samaniyya

This study deals with the handling of Adhan, which is a distinctive feature in Islamic civilization in terms of its meaning, in hadith sources and especially in terms of al-Kutub al-Samaniya. In the introduction, the concepts of adhan, muadhdhin and mi'dhana are discussed. In the first chapter, the historical process of adhan is explained before it and its emergence; afterwards, the adhan practices in the periods of the Prophet and Khulafâ Râshidin are mentioned. In the second part, the notions that the adhan expresses beyond the invitation to prayer are explained under various headings, emphasizing that it is a maxim of the Islamic civilization. In the third part, which constitutes the main part of the study, the handling of adhan in the works of Kutub alSamaniyya is analyzed. In addition, the content of the Kitâb al-adhan in Bukhari's alSahîh is examined and a comparison is made between the relevant book of Bukhari and the parts related to the subject in Muslim's al-Sahîh.
