Abstract (EN)
The reserves of fossil fuels (petroleum and coal) and natural gas, which had a major locomotive role in industrial revolution, are becoming very scarce. At the same time, these sources have a big influence on ecological problems. All of these reasons arise a need towards alternative fuels or sources, one of which is biomass.In this study, the gasification of 2-propanol (CH3CHOHCH3), which is an important organic material in industry, was carried out using a platinum catalyst in supercritical water. The effects of system temperature, pressure and reactor retension time on the gasification efficiency were investigated and the process circumstances giving the maximum gasificaion efficiency were determined. With these purposes, under a constant pressure of 250±10 bar, the influence of different reaction temperatures (400, 450, 500, 550 ve 600?C) and reaction times (10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 s) on gas product composition, amount of energy obtained and TOC conversion was investigated. Then, more experiments were made under pressures of 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 bar in order to evaluate the effect of pressure, and with concentrations of 36000, 54000, 72000, 90000 ve 108000 mg/L in order to evaluate the effect of concentration. The compositions of the gaseous effluents were determined at the end of the gasification experiments and these results were compared with the ones presented in literature. What is more, with the aid of comparing the initial and final TOC values, a kinetic model for the reaction was proposed.
