In terms of sustainable environment vision, the future of solar energy in the politicals of Turkey

Energy is the most fundamental drifters of climate. For sustainable development, energy and other inputs must be sustainable. A development that is not well managed in terms of energy has been a risk for environmental sustainability. Fossil fuels are running out and it takes a long time to replace them. Therefore, for sustainable development, there is a need for alternative energy sources in abundance, cheap, clean and accessible. Solar energy whose costs are decreasing steadily is an abundant, clean and accessible resource. Turkey has an advantageous position for utilizing solar energy due to its geographical location. Solar energy which is commonly utilized all over the country and sufficient for residential and industrial applications is an important source for Turkey. It is required that Turkey should make some policies and strategies for more inclusive, more diversified, safer and cleaner energy supply than ever before, by increasing its share in supplying energy and by evaluating its solar energy potential against external energy dependency and its risks. In this thesis, it is aimed to present some suggestions guiding for clean energy supply based on solar energy and environmentally oriented clean energy, by determining the problems on solar energy in reducing external energy dependency and providing Turkey's energy with the sustainable development approach. This thesis study consists of 3 chapters. The first chapter deals with the environment, environmental issues and the reasons. In the second chapter the advantages and disadvantages of conventional and renewable energy sources are examined. In the third chapter, Turkey 's problems related with the solar energy potential assessment have been discussed and some solutions are suggested.
