Abstract (EN)
This thesis aims to examine green facade systems developed within the framework of sustainable architecture principles in terms of their environmental, spatial, and socio- cultural dimensions. The challenges faced by contemporary cities such as climate crisis, excessive energy consumption, and ecological degradation have made nature-based solutions integrated into building envelopes increasingly essential. In this context, green facades offer multi-dimensional benefits including energy efficiency, indoor comfort improvement, urban heat island mitigation, biodiversity enhancement, and contributions to urban aesthetics. The study is supported by both a comprehensive literature review and case analyses of selected examples from diverse geographies. The buildings were comparatively evaluated based on criteria such as energy performance, ecological impact, user perception, and visual contribution. The research reveal that green façade systems not only serve as sustainable design strategies but also provide significant contributions to urban identity and the quality of social life.
