Examining the interrelationship between sustainable supply chain risks and innovation strategies

Sustainable supply chain management requires businesses to effectively manage the risks they face while fulfilling their environmental, economic and social responsibilities and to develop innovative solutions against these risks. This study aims to systematically define the main risks faced by enterprises operating in the energy sector within the scope of sustainable supply chain and to evaluate the innovation strategies that can be developed against these risks in the context of interaction. Sustainable supply chain risks and innovation strategies have been determined both in the light of the current literature and in line with the sustainability reports of QatarEnergy Renewable Solutions, which is the subject of the study. Data were collected through a survey from middle and senior experts working at QatarEnergy Renewable Solutions, a Qatar-based company that produces renewable energy and low-carbon technologies. The collected data were analyzed with the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Quality Function Migration (KFG) approach, which are multi-criteria decision making (MCDP) methods. In this way, the mutual effects between risks and strategies were evaluated holistically. The findings obtained as a result of the research are aimed to help manage sustainable supply chain risks more effectively and to determine appropriate innovation strategies against these risks. The study will provide guiding suggestions not only to the sampled company, but also to similar enterprises in the energy sector in general; It is envisaged that it will make valuable contributions to both academic literature and sectoral practices by raising awareness for the adoption of sustainability practices at the institutional level.
