Analysis of the purchasing process with process mining method

Today, many companies are conducting efficiency studies in order to increase their profitability. The most important step of efficiency studies is to analyze the processes objectively and to identify the points that can be improved. For these reasons, process analysis is an important tool in increasing efficiency. Process analysis shows the actual operation in the process. In addition, it identifies improvable points such as bottleneck activities, waiting times and non-comformities in the process. With the digital transformation process, the concept of big data has emerged in the processes. This made it difficult to perform process analysis. Current methods for process analysis are inadequate or unable to give effective results. For this reason, process analysis with Industry 4.0 technologies has recently become a popular topic. In particular, it has been observed that the process analyzes performed with process mining method, which deals with both process information and data information, yielded very successful results. In this study, it is aimed to analyze the purchasing process of a company operating in the air conditioning sector with process mining method. In order to perform the analysis, first of all, a data set about the purchasing process was obtained through SAP. The data set obtained was transferred to the process mining software Disco. After the events that took place during the process were recorded and read, a general view of the purchasing process was obtained. Process maps that allow us to see the process in general terms have been created on the Disco. In order to perform the process analysis, firstly, the process maps were examined in detail. The bottleneck activities and long waiting times were determined on the process map. Variants were examined in order to measure the variability in the process. In addition, statistical analyzes were carried out regarding the activities, variants and employees within the process. According to the findings obtained from the process analysis, the processes were analyzed in detail, the performance was comment and the points that could be improved were determined by using process mining method. The results of the analysis have been a guide for the process improvement studies to be made by the company.
