Business process management maturity models: An assessment of an organization

Abstract (EN)

In order to sustain a competitive advantage and face the rapidly increasing global competition, companies must continuously implement best practice management principles, strategies and technologies. One of the contemporary fields dealing with the management of business processes is business process management which is defined as a holistic organizational management practice, which is focused on the identification, definition, analysis, continuous improvement, execution, measurement, monitoring and analysis of organizational business processes. However, in practice, improving business processes is challenging. Therefore, business process maturity models have been developed to assist organizations in their search for business process excellence. Business process maturity models are a set of criteria or standards that are used by organization and business owners to assess the level of their process or process management efficiency and compliance. In this research, process and process management maturity level of an organization located in Turkey was assessed with "Process and Enterprise Maturity Model" which is developed by Hammer. According to the evaluation results capability areas were determined to improve.
