Evaluation of the news about missionary activities in periodical publications in terms of the history of religions (For example Yeni Şafak, Hürriyet, Milliyet)

Missionary activities are such activities that intend to convey and tell the Christian faith to generally non-Christians. People who are engaged in such activities are called missionaries. Although missionary activities are also seen in religions other than Christianity, it has been identified with Christianity since it is operated in a more systematic and organized way in Christianity. The missionary activities that are common in Muslim countries have been applied in a more efficient manner especially in Turkish and Islamic territories. The present study, which was conducted by us by reviewing the archives of Yeni Şafak, Hürriyet and Milliyet for the years 2000-20007, is quite important in that it reveals the effect of periodical publications on missionary activities. In the first part of our study, information was given about missionary activities to provide an insight about its relevant concepts. In the second part, periodicals were reviewed, information and the news on our subject was provided. In this section, the methods used by missionaries, the target groups of missionaries, political and economic support for missionaries, missionary activities in Turkic Republics, and the precautions that may be taken against missionary activities were dealt with. News on missionary activities were determined by using the religious sciences methods from periodicals covered in the study and were evaluated with objective analyzes. In addition, while evaluating the news, additional information on missionary sources were provided and the positive or negative effects of periodicals on missionary activities were presented in an objective manner.
