Methods of teaching Arab rhetoric at high school level in Syria

Throughout history, Muslim scholars have attached great importance to the art of rhetoric and have clearly stated that it plays an important role in understanding the Qur'an. As a matter of fact, scholars who believe that the Qur'an is a miracle have shown a serious interest in the science of rhetoric depending on the idea of i'jaz, and they have brought an important literature in this regard to the world of science. It is observed that rhetoric, which plays a very active role in understanding religious texts and expressing people's emotions more accurately and properly, is not adequately processed, based on the example of Syria. Although there are many reasons for this, it can be stated that there are some problems arising from the understanding and method of education. It is certain that there are some problems that need to be overcome in the practice of rhetoric in the contemporary period. It is of course important to investigate the cause of these problems faced by people whose mother tongue is not Arabic. However, it is thought-provoking that Syrians, whose mother tongue is Arabic, do not have a high level of relationship with rhetoric. In this study, within the framework of a field research, rhetoric education-teaching in Syria touches on the related problems and aims to make a modest contribution to the field.
