Abstract (EN)

The civil war began in 2011 in Syria spread all around the country. The multi-faith, multi ethnic and multi-sect social structure of Syria, which caused to have factions within the society, was the significant reason behind the civil war. Since the center of this regime lost its power as a whole, many interventions of the international community turned this civil war into a deep crisis that has no winner. The victims of the ongoing dominant power struggle have become the Syrian people. This paper aims to examine the integration problems of Syrian women who took refuge in our country. Convenience sampling method has been used to reach out the first contact with the purpose of interviewing the Syrian women who are the research object. This study realised with 15 Syrian women living in Topselvi by means of qualitative research method, interview data collection tool and observation. Subsequently, other women to be interviewed were reached out through snowball sampling method. In data collection phase, in-depth interviews were interviews were made via semi-structured interview form. The data gained through the interviews were interpreted thereafter. The study shows that Syrian women had difficulties during integration period with Turkish society and some of them even detached themselves from the society. Communication problems due to their not knowing the language also made the integration process difficult for them.
