Effect of syrian refugees on provincial economies: Examples of Gaziantep, Hatay, Şanliurfa, Kilis

The civil war, which started in Tunisia in 2010 and is called the Arab Spring in the Middle East, increased its violence in Syria in 2011. During this crisis, our country opened its doors to Syrian citizens. The refugee movement that started legally and illegally in our country has mostly affected the cities in the border region. Gaziantep,Hatay,Şanlıurfa and Kilis, which are among these cities, started to live with Syrians, and have interacted with them in various fields such as cultural, economic and health fields. Over time, the people have began to react to the starting of Syrian citizens' businesses. Upon the perception of the public that Syrian citizens not paying taxes, Turkish citizens' perception of taxation process has changed. In this study, questionnaires including questions related to economic activities, tax assignments and government supports were directed to the tradesmen in the provinces of Gaziantep, Hatay, Şanlıurfa and Kilis by face-to-face interview method. The views of the Syrian refugees on the taxation processes in these provinces have also been tried to be examined. Supports provided by the state and international organizations have also been discussed in the study with accessible legal data. Frequency and percentage analysis have been used for the descriptive characteristics of the participants.
