Abstract (EN)

Migration is the forced or voluntary transnational or internal displacement of the masses or individuals throughout the human history. Wide destructive conditions such as rapid increase in the world population, war and natural disasters are the main reasons of migration. Developing communication networks, ease of transportation and willingness to benefit from new opportunities are among the motivation sources for migration. While the development of communication technologies transforms traditional forms of communication, it plays an active role in the adaptation of migrants to the new culture in the relocation processes and in their communication with the bonds they leave behind. Individuals' motivation to use social networks can be diversified such as their daily needs, the desire to be informed, the need to be visible and spend time. In this study, the motivation to use Facebook, one of the social media applications, of the refugees who work as volunteer teachers in the institutions affiliated to the Directorate of National Education in Kilis, has been investigated. The online survey method was used. The data obtained were analyzed with SPSS 22. T-test and One-Way Anova tests were used to analyze the data. According to the results, the refugees use Facebook for motivations such as adaptation, communication, identification and organization.
