Özet (EN)

Miniature is a distinctive Turkish art which emerged in the era of Uighurs. The prime time for the miniature art was Ottoman era. One of the artist from that era was Abdülcelil Çelebi also known as Levni. Levni was both a miniature artist and a minstrel. It is said that Levni has plenty of folk songs, ghazels and poems. Although there is no direct evidence that Levni's birthplace is Edirne, it is strongly believed so. In his art work there are figures of people from Bursa, therefore it is believed that he had been in Bursa or perhaps he has relatives in there. Thus in resources, Levni is known as a miniature artist who lived in II. Mustafa era in Edirne. Researchers think that Levni might have come to Topkapı Palace with III. Ahmed at 1718. After that he worked at the palace workshop and created invaluable work of art. In the early part of eighteenth century Levni lead the miniature to a new direction by using the tulip era in his artwork. Tulip era was a peaceful and prosperous period, and Levni created a new fashion by using this subject, which makes him an outstanding miniature artist. When we compare western art with miniature art in time and space perception, miniature art is always in two dimensional and painted the present time, on the other hand western art is more flexible and with less limitations.
