Abstract (EN)
Induction motors are widely used in both home and industrial types due to their advantages such as easy control, high torque values, low maintenance requirements and being economical. The share of world electricity consumption in industry occurs in the electrical machinery 69%, the share of Turkey is about 70%. Approximately 3% of the cost that occurs during the life of electric motors is purchase; the remaining 97% is the cost of electricity consumed by the electrical machines. Efficiency classes in electric motors are important. According to the IEC 60034-30-1, electrical machines are classified into four different efficiency levels, such as IE1, IE2, IE3 and IE4. In the introduction and general information sections of the thesis, about the general characteristics, operating principles and standardized efficiency classes of induction motors were given. Focusing on efficiency analysis, practices and standards for increasing efficiency in the motors are also examined. In the test part of the thesis, experimental setup was prepared in accordance with the IEC 60034-2 for two different induction motors fed from the drive of IE2 and IE3 classes. In the experimental setups, winding resistance measurement, no-loaded, short circuit and loaded experiments were performed for both motors. The measurements in the experiments were transferred to the LabVIEW program and interpreted. Internal and external motor temperature values were measured and resistance values regulated depending on the temperature. Stator resistance is calculated by direct current test. Iron resistance and magnetization reactance were calculated by running the no-load test, rotor resistance and stator and rotor reactances were calculated by short circuit test. In this way, losses in induction motors are calculated over the equivalent circuit parameters of induction motors and the efficiency values in the machine labels are verified. In addition, the effect of each loss parameter occurring in the induction motor on the efficiency was analyzed. In two different efficiency classes used in the thesis study, the exact equivalent circuits of induction motors fed by the drive are obtained and the differences between the parameters are revealed.
