Abstract (EN)
Today, " Printing ", mostly known as kerchief, is actually a wider decorative art, including kerchief. It can be said that, the name of the Printing art is probably the result of the print of the pattern on the objects to be decorated. And therefore all the objects that can be decorated by stamping are included in the scope of the art of Printing. The investigations can not give a definitive proof of when and where the art of Printing emerged, but today, the earliest finds about the art of Printing are available in the Hittite remains of Anatolia (7000 BC). According to many sources, thet races of Printing were found not only in the Hittite civilization but also in many civilizations of the world, especially in the Assyrian civilization. This art, spreading to many geographies around the world with commerce, wars, occupations and otherways, has different style of practice and different intended use in every geography and civilization. The differences have been manifested in Anatolia regions, sometimes according to geographical conditions, sometimes according to beliefs, and sometimes according to the material provided. The difference between Assyrian Printing and other Printing in Anatolia is a belief based difference. It is perhaps the most interesting of these differences that is practiced in Anatolia that the icons used by the Assyrians in the expression of beliefs of the Christian Orthodox sect, are shaped by the art of Printing. Church curtains, which are the most poweful evidence of the connection of the icons that are an integral part of the Orthodox Christian worship, are used in almost every Orthodox Church in Anatolia, particularly in Mardin. The main purpose of our research is to determine the meaning of this art and the iconographic symbols used in art, which faces the disappearance of the Assyrians because they emigrate from Anatolia.
