In vitro evaluation of the effect of single file systems root canal preparation and preparation time in deciduous teeth root canal treatment

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this in vitro study is to evaluate preparation time and the amount of debris extruded apically during preparation and irrigation for mesiobuccal root of second primary mandibular molar teeth with single file systems and to evaluate the cleaning efficacy of these files after preparation via SEM. Eighty mandibular primary molar root canals were instrumented with; WaveOne, Reciproc, One Shape and Kedo-S. The amount of extruded debris were weighed using a 10-5 microbalance. 8 canine teeth were used for the evaluation of cleaning efficiency. Cleaning efficiency of files was evaluated through scoring of taken SEM photographs of longitudinally splitted samples. The working time required to complete instrumentation was recorded. The results were analysed statistically using the Kruskal Wallis, F, t and Mann Whitney-U tests . P-values less than 0.05 were considered significant. There was no difference in the amount of debris extruded between OneShape, Reciproc, WaveOne and Kedo-S files (p>0,05) The results for remaining pulp tissue in all three levels were similar (p>0,05) for OneShape, WaveOne, Reciproc and Kedo-S files. The preparation time with KedoS was significantly faster than Reciproc (P < 0.05). All of the systems produced apical extrusion of debris. Continuous rotary instrumentation systems may be preferable for preparation primary teeth. Keywords: Primary root canal treatment, debris extrusion, Reciproc, preparation time
