ABSTRACT SYNTHESIS OF DIFFERENT HETEROCYCLE BENZİMİDAZOLE DERİVATIVES AND INVESTIGATION OF SOME BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES Rıdvan ATİK Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Chemistry Master Thesis Supervisor: Prof.Dr. Selami ŞAŞMAZ In this work, Iminoester hydrochloride, which is a starting compound, was synthesized according to the literatüre and then, it was reacted with 4,5-dichloro-o-phenylenediamine to obtain 5,6-dichloro-2-(4-methoxybenzyl)-1H-benzimidazole (2). Ethyl [5,6-dichloro-2-(4-trioxidanylbenzyl)-1H-benzimidazol-1-yl]acetate (3) was synthesized by the reaction of compound 2 and ethyl bromoacetate and 2-(5,6-dichloro-2-(4-methoxybenzyl)-1H-benzimidazol-1-yl)acetohydrazide (4) was obtained by the reaction of compound 3 and hydrazine hydrate. In the next step of this work, compound 4 was reacted with different isothiocyanates to obtain correponding isothiocyanate derivatives (9, 10, 11)and then, correcponding benzimidazoles which are containing triazole cycles were obtained by the reaction of isothiocyanate derivatives (12, 13, 14) and 2N NaOH. The structure of newly synthesized compounds were identified by IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR (APT) spectroscopy data. The antioxidant and urease inhibition properties of the synthesized compounds were also investigated. 2019, 64 page Keywords: Benzimidazole, thiosemicarbazide, triazole, schiff base, antioxidant.
