Abstract (EN)

TURKISH GRAND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY I. PERIOD LITERARY FIGURE MPS The most significant development in the foundation of the contemporary Republic of Turkey is undoubtedly the opening of the First Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) and its role as a Constituent Assembly. The official occupation of Istanbul by the Allied Powers on March 16, 1920, directly affected the activities of the Ottoman Parliament (Meclis-i Mebusan) and ultimately led to its dissolution. These events accelerated the opening of the First TBMM. The opening of the TBMM, a part of the National Struggle period, was the first step towards establishing the new Republic of Turkey and laid the groundwork for the implementation of principles and reforms. The First TBMM, with extraordinary powers and the nature of a Constituent Assembly, housed various ideologies and deputies with different viewpoints. Under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Pasha, we will evaluate the opening process of the Assembly, briefly discuss its general characteristics, and also examine Atatürk's relationship with literature under the headings "Atatürk and Poetry" and "Atatürk and Oratory."During the National Struggle period, the entire population mobilized and played a crucial role in the path to victory. The intellectuals of the period not only defended different ideas but also supported the National Struggle with their powerful writings, especially through the press and publications, becoming the voice of the Turkish people. The writers of the National Struggle period played an important role in keeping the national consciousness and spirit of the Turkish nation alive. Moreover, the literary figures of the National Struggle period wrote works in various genres such as poetry, novels, short stories, theater, essays, and memoirs to achieve this goal. These works addressed themes such as the heroes of the national struggle, the atrocities of the enemy, the hardships endured by the people, and the victory of the national struggle. The literature of the National Struggle period is one of the most important eras of Turkish literature. The literary figures of this period not only made their mark on the literary scene but also played a significant role in the First TBMM, etching their names into the history of the Republic. We will briefly discuss these figures who contributed to the founding of the Republic of Turkey and evaluate the activities of the Assembly.
