Bearing capacity of shallow foundations on layered soils

In this study, the methods related to the bearing capacity of the shallow foundations which lay on layered soils were analyzed and a series of loading experiments were performed in the laboratory. Several analyses for different layering conditions were performed using Plaxis 2D and ABAQUS software which use finite element solution. The effects of the interaction of layers on bearing capacity for different layering conditions were discussed at the analyses performed.For different layering conditions, the effects of the variation of internal friction angle on bearing capacity and the resultant shear planes were graphically obtained and discussed with the help of PLAXIS and ABAQUS software.
