Abstract (EN)

Handguns are widely used in civilian and military fields. Numerical analyses, such as rigid body dynamics and finite element method, are performed during the design stages of handguns to determine the behavior and durability of their components. In this thesis study, the dynamic behaviors of the TİSAŞ PX9 GEN3 model gun were examined experimentally and numerically. A new recoil-rise test system was designed for experimental studies to measure the recoil and rise forces of the pistol. In the numerical studies, the dynamic behaviors of the PX9 GEN3's components, namely the front sight, barrel lock, frame, and recoil spring, were first analyzed using the Adams program. For this purpose, first of all, the forces acting on the bullet were calculated with the Vallier-Heydenreich equations in the program. As a result of the rigid body analysis, the time-dependent position change of the slide, the angular acceleration of the barrel lock, the contact force between the frame and barrel, and the time-dependent force changes of the springs were obtained. In the second part of the numerical studies, the time-dependent changes affecting the components, resulting from the MSC Adams software, were used as loading boundary conditions in the finite element analysis. The stress distributions and fatigue lives of the specified components were determined as a result of the analyses performed with the finite element method.
