Abstract (EN)
In this study, a solution of epoxidized natural rubber, with epoxy content of (46%), was prepared then epoxy ring opening reaction was carried out with Tioglycolic acid (TGA). The resulting polyol was reacted with isocyanate group holder (MDI), to result with a new bio-derived polyurethane. Characteristic peaks of polyurethane were verified in Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and DSC measurements were also made. The poperties of polyurethane (solubility and flexibility) was observed to decrease as the (TGA) ratio (0.25-0.5-0.75 mol) increased. Keywords: Polyurethane, epoxidized natural rubber (ENR), epoxy ring opening, modification
