Abstract (EN)

Tahir b. Âşûr, who was born into a family that moved to Maghreb at first and then settled to Morocco after the collapse of Andalusia Civilization which enlightened the West for 8 centuries, produced original works in the fields of religion, law, politics, social sciences and culture as a faqih, mufassir and mujaddid. For this reason, İbn Âşûr was chosen as the subject for this study due to his original ideas. In the introduction chapter of this study, the life and the period he lived in are elaborated. Within this frame, the social, political and cultural conditions Tunisia and the life, scholarly personality and Quran interpretation of the mufassir are addressed. In the first chapter, the revelation process of Quran according to Tahir b. Âşûr is examined. Within this context, the terms revelation's descent (nuzul) and divine inspiration are emphasized along with the topics related to them. In the second chapter, Tahir b. Âşûr's approach to the reasons of revelation's descent is tried to be specified. The mufassir, who put forward original ideas on this subject, classified the reasons of revelation's descent and presented a method that was beyond the traditional understanding.
